Our Story
Gateway Church began with a dream that God placed in the hearts of Pastors Aaron & Jennifer Joseph.
In February of 2006, they began visiting families who were not actively involved in church, simply sharing life, prayer, and God’s Word. Small prayer gatherings and Bible studies started in homes, and as the group grew, so did a deep hunger for God’s presence.
What began around living room tables soon moved to Saturday night services in a Hampton Inn meeting room. With God as their greatest resource, new families began showing up every week. It was clear — God was on the move, and Gateway was following His lead.
On April 9, 2006, Gateway Church officially launched Sunday morning services at Harmans Elementary School — a defining moment in our journey. As the church continued to grow, we later met for 13 months at a Seventh-day Adventist church. During that season, Gateway became an official Church of God on May 20, 2007.
Later that same year, God opened the door for another miracle — the purchase of our first permanent church home at 996 Point Pleasant Road, Glen Burnie, Maryland.
Where We Are Today
Our story is still being written. With great expectancy, we continue to advance the Kingdom of God in our city and beyond.
Today, Gateway Church is a thriving, Spirit-filled, multi-generational, and family-oriented church. We are passionate about raising disciples, equipping ministers, and demonstrating the love of God in practical ways. Our church culture is life-giving, joyful, authentic, and full of faith.
